Posted By paul s wright assistance required, if an employee had an accident, then the following day did not attend work, returned the following day, fit for for work the next two days (weekend) then on the monday went to doctors and was signed off with a sick note for 5 days, would this be reportable as over 3 day injury?

Posted By Phillipe I suppose that would depend upon whether or no the injured person was stating that the time off was as a result of the accident he or she sustained the previous week. If that was the case, then I would suggest that you should report it

Posted By Jonathan Carrick Paul, As is often the case in these situations, I would say “if in doubt - report it.” There can be no comeback, however if you fail to report it when you should have done – there could be repercussions. Hope that makes sense and helps. Jon

Posted By Malcolm Fryer Paul Report it if the 3+ consecutive days apart form day of accident are as a result of the accident. Go to http://www.hse.gov.uk/pubns/misc310.pdf or similar and search for the "consecutive" text. Hope this helps

Posted By Ken Dickson Paul, If the 5 day abscence is atributable to an accident / injury sustained at work, that's a resounding yes. However, if you are given no reason to connect the two events, you're under no duty to ask!

Posted By Bob Thompson CMIOSH I agree you should report. Also dont forget that a person does not just have to be absent for more than 3 days to be reportable . If they are on reduced duties for more than 3 daysas a result of accident that is reportable too. Regards Bob
