Posted By Gail Pannell Hi, My company has a sister company housed in the same building that is managed by the same manager. I believe that one first aider is required for every 100 people employed. In total there are 30 employees employed by the two company, do we legally require two first aiders one for each company or will we be under the same umbrella since we're in the same building and under the same Director and manager. Thanks Gail

Posted By Frank Hallett Gail, please do a trawl of the several recent exchanges on this topic to get an understanding of the principal issues. Then go to the MHSW Regs and read what it says about Reg 11. Frank Hallett

Posted By Kate Graham It's not that simple Gail, you have to assess how many first aiders (and/or appointed persons) you need depending on what the workplace is like (the risks, the layout etc). It doesn't necessarily have to be a first aider per company in the same building but you do need to allow for absence. Kate
