Hello all,
I have been tasked with gathering information, prior to opening up the paddling pools. And would welcome advice on the points listed below?
What are the minimum requirements for cleansing the paddling pool?
Is it sufficient to fill the pool on a daily basis following cleansing and empty the same day without adding any disinfectant?
Do we need to look at lifeguards or are disclaimer signs adequate?
If they are what do they need to say?
If we have to disinfect what chemical should we be using?
For information:
We have now introduced self closing gates to prevent dogs/ etc accessing the paddling area.
Thanks in advance
Kind regards
Mick

M,
I have nothing to offer but best wishes and good luck...
spotted a group of chavs, such a pleasant species if you like parasites, all seeing how far they could pee into the local one at Otley
Have you tried other LA's H&S teams?

Thanks for that.
We have the same problem with "Hoodies", and find that the ASBO system is helping to cleanse certain areas!
This site is my first port of call, and hopefully (and seriously) I will get a result?
Cheers
Mick

The HSE's HSG179 Managing H&S in Swimming Pools will give you all you need to know. Despite its title, a clarifying guidance note was issued in August 2005 clearly stating that the guidance (HSG179) DID apply to paddling pools.

I like using ASBO's on people who urinate in pools and break bottles over slides in play areas.
Alsations
Snipers
Batons
Oleoresin capsicum (pepper spray).
Only joking, it's really a cry for help when they vandalise rate payers property. We need more focus groups; refer to the S of my ASBO.
We have a seawater pool that is hand dosed with Sodium Hypochlorite and monitored regularly for pH adjustments but I don't have enough experience to comment further on what system you should use.
Will send you the HSG on swimming pools it may be useful.
Best of luck.
Jeff
