Posted By Paul Rhodes Please can anyone offer some advice on how to dispose of large wooden cable drums, we currently have numerous empty drums surplus on site, we have contacted the supplier of the drums and they don’t want them? I understand you can only fit about eight on a wagon and this makes it difficult to dispose of them. The site is in Liverpool near the John Lennon airport, however, we do have other locations where these drums are used. We would ideally like to responsibly dispose of them, preferably recycle them. Any suggestions

This might be a bit obvious but your local authority may do wood reclamation.
If they only do it for domestic purposes at the civic amenity site you may find that this is under contract and you can contact the contractor directly. I'm not sure if Speke is part of LCC or not but they will have an Environment education officer or someone like that who could help.
Alternatively put in a wood burning stove.

Posted By Andrew Longhurst Having posted an entirely spurious and flippant reply direct to Paul - for which my apologies - can you say how many you currently have, what it is you do as a company and how big your site is?
Thanks

Posted By Philby' Paul,
I'd happily have them for fencework on my allotment! Any around the Otley area?

Posted By Darren J Male Paul,
Most wood recyclers will take them. Check your Yellow Pages. Else ring Envirowise on 0800 585794 and ask for advice. Drop me an e-mail direct if you need help.
