Posted By Merv Newman Arran, thank you for the link. I suppose that it is a logical and understandable judgement. Most unfortunate though for the widows. "20 years self-employed" probably means that the previously agreed compensation will be cut by at least 50%. Merv

Posted By Mark Talbot I seem to remember a case where a child was hurt falling from a window that the mother had repeatedly asked the father to repair. The mother sued on the child's behalf, and the house insurance (through a third party clause) paid compensation. I wonder if a self-employed person's insurance might be liable for loss of income to the family of the insured person injured by their work ?
