Posted By Michael Carroll Hi does anyone know if blackberry radiation is more powerful than a mobile phone? I have a member of staff who suffers from headaches when using a mobile. He belives a blackberry emmits more radiation than a moblie thus causing more severe headaches if he uses a blackberry. I suspect it has more to do with the way he is using his mobile but was wondring if anyone had any information on this cheers

Posted By Mark Bywater Michael, I suppose it depends what his job is and the frequency and conditions of use. He could always try turning the volume level down too! Is it true that radiation gives you headaches? If that were true surely our radiographer friends would all be taking paracetemol all day long, and not bothering to wear the lead lined aprons or duck behind the screens. Not sure he's on the right lines here...there has to be a different reason for the headaches. What's his workload like? You're not giving him too much to do in too short a time are you? As if...eh? Posted By Descarte I thought blackberry's were hand held portable computers? So correct me if I am wrong but the answer would be no, Black berry would be less radiation from the simple fact that it is held away from the head and not pointing at you brain, well if you are holding it right. But as I said depending on how it is used I could be wrong. Also I am sure that manufacturers have to provide this information dont they? Therefore you should be able to compared the actual amount of radiation output from both sources and make a decisionas to whether it would be better or worse Good Luck! Des

Posted By Brett Day The thing to look for is the SAR number, the lower the number the better, some 'smartphones/pda' phones actually have a higher SAR than a bog standard mobile. Have a look here for a further explanation of SAR values: http://www.hpa.org.uk/ra...ephony/mobile_phones.htm

Posted By Jim Walker I'm with Mark on this. You are barking up the wrong tree. Have you done stress assessment?
