Posted By Marvin Owen I have a interview this week with a housing trust. Does anyone know what health and safety issues may arise? The trust rents houses out to local people in the Shropshire area. I am aware that they come under general health and safety, however are there any special requirements for landlords? Also I am not very well upto date with the CDM regulations, what issue may arise from these set of regulations Help Please

Posted By Charley Farley-Trelawney Marvin I suspect any CDM questions will be for new works the trust has underway (notifiable F10's) small works not falling into the criteria do not count for CDM although H&S does, I would expect most of the responsibiliies to be of a design issue, project management, employer requirements, Contractor props, service contracts, contractor assessments, inspecting MS's and RA's,Emergency procedures, FRA's,other associated emergency procedures, checking compliance to a vast array of regs/acts, inspections, re certifications for services/products coming under that banner, issue of PTW's, record keeping. There that is a few things to be getting on with, most of them I expect you have already considered. If you want to brush up on CDM I can help you. Hearty good wishes for the interview. CFT

Posted By J Knight Looking at the post you say your interview is this week; but if its not too late can I add personal safety in tasks like rent collection, evictions and so on as well as more general lone working, and occupational road risk, John

Posted By Kate Graham As well as those already mentioned: Fire risk assessment - under the RRO this will be required for communal areas of housing. Needles. Repair, servicing, cleaning work if they do their own.

Posted By Phil H Try looking at the office of the deputy Prime minister website. There is guidance on the housing health and safety rating system which lists a number of hazards concerning public sector / rented property. (www.odpm.gov.uk)The system HHSRS and guidance has recently been amended.Violence towards staff including racist abuse, stress and lone working are also worth considering.
