We've recently introduced a hard hat / bump cap policy for all production staff. we've had a couple of issues with staff with extra large, or odd shaped heads that just wont fit in the largest bump cap, or to date, the largest hard hats we can find. We've ordered extra large ones upto 64cm 37 7/8ths inches, and still they dont fit properly. We were able to knock another couple off the list with the introduction of chin straps, but we still have one chap who's tried the lot, and says he now leaves work every single day with a head ache due to wearing a incorectly fitting hat. There is no way his task can be made exempt, and a change of role is awkward, clearly the situation as it is cant be maintained long term, anyone got any suggestions ?
serious suggestions first please, save the jokes.
thanks

Have you spoken to all your normal ppe supplers as well as all the other usual suspects? (Arco, Greenham, Seton, Safetyshop etc...)

I would be tempted to pass it to them to resolve as they have the contacts with suppliers.

It might cost you a little extra to source the correct item, but that's life.

Until they come up with something, you may have to arrange a temporary transfer out of the hard hat area.

I sourced some one size fits all baseball style bump caps with ajustable size straps which went down well with the shop floor staff.
One is the "Cool Cap" from Centurion and the other is a "Protector First Base+" from Everglades safety. Just type either name into google and you should find what you want,

best regards

hi, regarding safety suppliers, yes we have tried quite a number of them, even the biggest hats dont do it.
re the bump caps, we already have ones with adjustable fittings, and even un done they dont fit comfortably, its not so much the size of the base, its the top of the head fitting.
any further suggestions welcome.
thanks
