Why can't a foam extinguisher be used on an electrical fire?
Is it because they are water based?
We have had our extinguisher company come in while Ive been on holiday (they frightened to death my understudy with BS 5306-3) and they have taken out CO2 extinguishers and replaced them with foam in our office environments.
The company when confronted with 'Why' replied 'They are not conductive'.
Also they are charging the us £100 for new 6kg dry powder ones.

Hi Paul
Foam is water based, and even though the jet is intermittent to break the path of conduction,as the foam collapses a pool of water can spread out from the base of the fire; if this comes into contact with the person sparying the foam dire consequences can ensue,
