Can anyone help please? I am advising a new office manager in a small building business on H&S in the construction industry. I have suggested that they attend a course to give an overview of the legislation, HSE etc. The only courses available seem to be the four day Managing Safety type which is a bit over the top for the position and is a bit difficult to allot time to. Does anybody run for instance a one day intoductory course or know of one in the south Essex area?

Hi Alan,
Any Level 1 H&S course (Working Safely, CIEH Foundation etc) will cover the basics. CIEH do a Risk Assessor's course which is Level 2 and should include a fair bit of stuff on general H&S as well as specifics on the Management Regs (natch). I don't know any providers in South Essex but I do know that West Anglia Training Association (who are I think in Huntingdon) have had a very good press from my colleague who did his cert there last year,

How about the Directing Safely course? Its aimed at informing Directors of their duties and responsibilities and lasts 1/2 day.
See IOSH website for details of providers.

Hi
You could always have the CCNSG course style run as it has all the overview of the of leglistation and how it impacts on the job.
