Posted By Charley Farley-Trelawney Could someone please educate me if wellies (toe protected) have a legal shelf life somewhat similar to HH's, leg, acop, etc. Any knowledge gratefully appreciated. CFT

Posted By Gary L Afternoon I can't see a date on my pair so I will probably use them until they leak. I suppose their lifespan will depend on what you are working/walking in. Gary

Posted By Merv Newman Chazz, They are not like plastic hard hats. If you have steel toe-caps and they don't leak, why change 'em. Rubber wellies will have a shelf life, rather like car tyres. If you don't put too much mileage on 'em and wear out the tread they will eventually start to show "ozone" cracks. And leak. they are not green, are they ? Merv Back to the "danger man/woman" thread

Posted By Helen Horton They do deteriorate with age even if not used and kept in a storeroom so regular checks of those on the shelf might not go amiss. Little cautionary tale follows: Dad works for building company, Daughter off on biology field trip has no wellies, co-incidentally Dad told to clear out a storeroom in the builders yard and brings home pair of wellies for Daughter's week in Wales. In the middle of torrential rain Daughter is up to her knees in salt marsh mud, feet feel wet and cold. Pulls feet out of mud and finds that all the rubber has dropped off the instep of the boots and all she is wearing is what looks like a thin pair of white cotton socks. Yes I was that Daughter - but it was also a long time ago!! LOL
