Posted By Stuart Oakey Hello, I'm looking at NVQ 4 courses, and have received info from BCS College in Nottingham. Does anyone have experience of BCS, be it good, bad or indifferent. There study pattern suits my shift pattern, which is a plus, but be grateful for any adive that is on offer. Stuart

Posted By Linda Crossland-Clarke Hi As with any training provider you need to ask some good questions to find out what you are letting yourself in for. Find out how often they come and visit you at work, how many observations they will do, how many other candidates each assessor has on their books, do you have any assignments to do, do you have to cross reference everything into the matrices, can you submit evidence via, CD, email, on-line, video or just in hard copy, how long do you have to wait for your work to be assessed, internally and externally verified, payment terms, what happens if your assessor loses your work, even the occupational competence of your assessor? There is a wide variety of operations out there, some are more commercially driven than others. I am not making any insinuations here at all. Then you can make a educated decision on how long it will take you, how much support you will get and how good your admin skills need to be! regards and best of luck Linda

Posted By Jan Moore Hi Stuart. I got to CMIOSH with BCS College. Nice place, nice people and a lot of support. The NVQ4 I found was well paced out with the odd visit to the college every month or so. The only downside was me getting lost every time I travelled there from Brum. I kept getting off at Junction 25!!!!! Good Luck Jan

Posted By Stuart Oakey Hi Chrissie, Studying with BCS would suit my shift pattern, as it is not the usual continental, or earlies, lates, & nights type pattern of shifts. My shift pattern has meant I cannot attend a training centre like West Anglia Training, where I took my NEBOSH Cert, because of the limited time between shifts, I cannot guaruntee that I would have each Tuesday off for example. So if I can tailor the study time to my time off, then at least I can achieve the qualification I want.
