Posted By Glyn Atkinson Why is this thread not a starter for Friday - I'm just bursting to say that must be lots of Pats to test in Ireland - I'm off away on Friday, can I slip that one in today instead??
Apologies for jumping in on a serious thread, - the wicked part o' me couldn't resist !!
Pat and Murphy go job hunting - "tree fellers required" on a sign - Murphy says to Pat, now, wouldn't you know it, just when there's only the two of us !!
Sorry - I've gone !!

I am certain the HSANI only refer to it as recommendations as opposed to legal requirements, much like the current HSE do here, or how you interpret other regs, guides, acops etc.
You could try HS(G) 107 and 85 plus GS38 (rev) which may help.
In general terms for Northern Ireland it states that employers duties must include a safe place of work and without risks to health. HSA 61 will give further information as will HSENI 4 (99)
The following link will take you to the NI website.http://www.hseni.gov.uk/
I may of course have completely misundersood, and you in fact refer to Southern Ireland, no doubt you will let us know!

Posted By SD Thanks for the responses and the joke (original). No worries Charley yes its the Republic of Ireland and I have been informed that down south Portable Appliance Testing is not a legal requirement(probably too many PAT'S to test) but thanks for the information.

Posted By David Bramall SD Sorry I dont have an answer for you at present, but having read Glyn's response I couldn't help posting a response. Glyn, your'e obviuosly a very wise man, a lot cleverer than the thick paddies (or PAT's) ,however, please brush up on your sense of humour before trying to post a funny (NOT) joke on this forum, it's not the place for blatantly racist humour. I don't know where you originate from either recently or in your deepest ancestry - do you. If you have anything sensible to say, that's good, if not keep it to yourself. Apologies again SD for wasting your thread, Ill have a think and decide if I can offer a sensible response to your question. DrB
