Posted By Andrew W I was just watching the evening news when an piece debating which councils wouldn't allow the flying of the Flag of Saint George's made my blood boil. A member of Northampton Council appeared and guess what his first statement was? "Due to Health and Safety we cannot allow the flying of these flags from our vehicles as one may dislodge and hit a member of the public" A tiny plastic flag?????? Why not tell the truth and say "We've banned the flying of these flags because if one falls off and hits a no win no fee artist we'll have a lot of paperwork to do and will end up forking out to keep them quiet" Why oh why do us poor souls get blamed for every killjoy decision made by spineless beaurocrats. Has this world gone mad. Andy

Posted By Charley Farley-Trelawney Andrew Ditto, still I see number 10 is going to fly the flag during games so one must assume they are satisfied that H&S is no major issue for them. Chazza

Posted By Andrew Cartridge Andy Some mistake surely....................... I have just logged onto the Northampton Council website & typed health & safety into their search engine, & guess what? no results. So it can't be blamed on health & safety as they don't appear to recognise it!!!!!!!!!!!! Andy

Posted By Jonathan Breeze Now if they'd said the ban was because they are tacky, then I would have been behind it 100%

Posted By Jonathan Breeze The rumour in Wales is that it is a new scheme introduced by the DVLA to identify sub-standard drivers. The more flags, then the poorer the driver.
