Dangerous Palm trees are the latest things to be attacked by the H&S risk assessment mania. Torbay are only going to be placing new trees in areas where the sharp leaves will not cause injury to holiday makers and residents. Lets hope who ever did this risk assessment does not look at the greater hazard of the sea side, "THE SEA" it actually does kill people, maybe we better fence it off just to be sure.

I saw that article in the weekend newspapers.
I wonder if the decision was taken by a H&S professional or by someone else in the name of H&S?

I think this is another example of weak managers not able to make a decision and being able to justify it. Therefore if they cry "its a breach of health and safety" they feel that they will not get challenged and that they are being pro-active managers.
If they just do not wish to plant palm tress just say so, do not use 'elf and safety' as a crutch to prop up dodgy decision making.
Am I ranting now?
