It would be interesting to note if there are studies to support or refute lap top usage over desk top pc's on safety gounds.
It would be interesting to note if there are studies to support or refute lap top usage over desk top pc's on safety grounds.
Secondly I would also like to know if anybody can recommend a useful e-library for health and safety legislation (UK and Eire). Looking for something that has an extensive listing and full text of legislation on line or on updated disks.
Thanks
Declan

laptops are a lot worse for users posture wise and I think the DSE regs recommend 5 minutes break /posture change every 60 minutes for a desk top but this changes to every 30 minutes for a lap top.
This however can be countered in an office environmental by using a docking station, attaching a keyboard and mouse etc...
But working on the train or in the hotel or even at home on a laptop can have faster health implications if necessary steps are not taken to minimise these when using laptops

HSE commissioned research on this a while back. You need to go to the HSE homepage and use the main search engine - probably type in portable computers.
