What is the blue stuff inside fire doors manufactured within the last couple of years? It's compressed in layers in the chipboard. I know only that it's an intumescent material and it's blue to denote a 60 minute fire barrier.
I'm looking for a brand name or generic name so I can find an MSDS for it.

Why would you want a MSDS as this surely cannot be a substance which can be classified under CHIP or COSHH, never seen a fire door cause any dermatitis or difficulty in breathing unless you are in the fire door manufacturing industry!

Sometimes fire doors have glazed openings cut into them. One of my customers was exposed to asbestos from the core of an old door this way.

So the Client was in breach of Reg 4, 5, 10 & 15 of the CAWR 02 then as well as changing the 'Fire' rating of the door as you are cutting a hole in it?
the point I was making was there is no such thing as a MSDS for this, would you expect one for glass in case you swallowed a bit when it is broken.

No the point is one is legally bound to identify materials which are hazardous. That's for COSHH. More importantly one is legally bound to assess the risk of all work carried out.
