Hello All:
Sorry if this has been asked before but I need to know whether or not stress is reportable under RIDDOR?
Any help would be most appreciated.

I don't think so - it's not a disease. And even if someone is off work for over three days with stress it's not due to an injury sustained while at work.
I have heard that stress is not actually a recognised clinical condition. Any comments?

Stress is not reportable under RIDDOR but the HSE gives guidance on its management and importance to the workplace. Have a look at http://www.hse.gov.uk/stress/why.htm

This information is different from what i recieved from the HSE. If the stress is caused by an work related incident, i.e. someone seeing a friend being severly injured. Then this would be reportable under HSE guidance.
They dont make it easy do they.

I understood that the difference was work related stress which is not and post traumatic which was.
As the previous poster pointed out the effects of seeing a colleague injured would come under the latter.
In both cases there may be a case to give the employee concerned some support and guidance. Any employer should see both as a problem.
cheers
