Posted By Jason911 Anybody else work for a large national business that produces some of this type of waste in the form of correction fluid and batteries etc, but in no way enough to justify some newly formed company that has sprung up to take advantage of the latest regulations charging £190 to remove 2 tiny crates a month!!!!. I don't belive these regulations are being adhered to the letter of the law. Any ideas?

Posted By David O'Hara I appreciate what you are saying but it is hazardous waste after all. I would contact sita who are a well established firm. They will need your environment agency number though. David

Posted By IanD Hi Jason I may be wrong (get ready for the crossfire) but if you can quantify it and it is less than 200kg you do not have to be registered. You do have a duty of care to ensure that all waste is disposed off correctly, shop around Regards Ian

Posted By Dave Wilson Remember its 200kg per annum not in one load, if you are producing more than 200kg of ALL types of Haz waste PA you need to regsiter with the EA to get a Premises Code, it costs £18 on line and takes a couple of minutes, do not pay £75 for a Waste conractor to do it for you! You can also download the Consignment notes for free as well.

Posted By Dave Wilson If you operate from a number of sites and they each produce more than the 200kg/pa EACH SITE has to register, unless you are a 'mobile producer' (Collect HW as part of your work at the roadside etc) then you will only need 1 premises code!

Posted By J Knight Hi Jason, While I suspect there is room for overcharging, and I don't know anything about the company offering to take your waste away, I can tell you that it is now very expensive, and will become more so, to dispose of hazardous waste. Anything which goes to landfill is subject to landfill tax anyway, and if its a hazardous waste disposal site they will also in any event charge a high price just to take the stuff, so it may not be fair to put the whole of the blame on your waste carrier, John
