Posted By Rob Forrestall Hello, this is my first time in the discussion forum. Has anyone got a rescue plan for person/s working at height in MEWPS for example. I advise on H&S For an Engineering/Manufacturing Company, who have recently purchased a "cherrypicker" and need to put a plan of action together. I was hoping i could use this forum to aid knowledge and help me with a rescue plan.

Posted By Chris Pope Most of these machines should have a secondary set of controls at ground level to facilitiate lowering in the event of an accident. Provided there is someone at ground level who can do that and an appropriate level of monitoring if the machine user is a lone worker then an emergency plan is fairly straightforward in most standard applications. It would be interesting to hear a response from colleagues who have been involved in real life drama. I saw a fascinating series of pictures of one of the big railway maintenance firms tipping a poor soul out of his van mount basket when he was attemtpting to place a Christmas tree he had tied to it.
