Hello forum readers!
Perhaps my fellow danger experts could provide their views on the following!
Organiser of a fun day being held in a park would like to have some rowboats on the pond. The pond is shallow (around 1m deep) and rowboats are ocean going and very stable. Area to be rowed in will be restricted to line of sight by pontoons.
All children must be accompanied by an adult and there will be supervision and first aid cover at all times.
What do people think to the provision of life jackets for the kids?
Any thoughts/views greatly appreciated.
Kind regards
Dazmo

Obviously down to you performing a suitable and sufficient risk assessment by assessing all significant potential hazards, identifying those persons at risk, then making an evaluation of the chances of something happening and the most likely outcome. Once done you would obviously factor in existing controls if any and then ban the thing as highly dangerous.
Sorry couldn't resist that one. You could just do what most local councils seem to do and just tell people to be carefull and not bother with the jackets. Could i possibly be advocating common sense?
