To be honest I am struggling to put together risk assessments for our farm. I simply cannot afford to bring in a consultant, any help or better still generic risk assessments that you have would be much appreciated and put to good use. We operate a mixed farm and agriculture contracting

I think if you search the HSE web site you will find lots of free leaflets for farming.
I know from an Agricultural Inspector that they like the main risks sorted out by following the guidance (as opposed to a big fancy risk assessment folder)

In my expeience it is not the assessment that is the problem It is writing it

How much risk assessment do you provide for a chain saw operator?

Thank you one and all for all your constructive advice and for those of you who have gone that bit extra and provided me with written documentation. John it was my understanding that if you employ 5 or more people the assessment has to be written. On the chain saw issue, we contract that out to a specialist contractor who provides us with risk assessments. I can assure you our workers are skilled and competent at what they do. I appealed on this forum for members assistance for guidance and even a template to conduct risk assessments. I have read farm Wise and several other HSE publications. I have been on numerous HSE training and development courses. I like to think we are being pro-active by assessing the risks in our business and recording our findings
