Posted By David B Natasha I am pretty sure that there is no restriction on height for ladder work apart from obviously the height of the ladder being used. As long as the ladder is in good condition, well secured, short duration work, operator does not have to reach or stretch and can keep one hand holding the ladder at all times ... various other conditions, then they are perfectly adequate. I would however say that I think they should only be used where no other form of equipment can be used. Regards David

Posted By Les Fullwood Natasha, I am afraid that it is the old addage, it is all down to risk assessment. Depending on the task that is undertaken and the hazards involved, this then dictates the control measures. Under the WAH regs, work at any height, where a person could fall a distance liable to cause injury. I work for a company of Surveyors and we state no more than 3 metres, but that is based on the level of risk. Hope that helps Les
