Posted By Glyn Atkinson My only comment coming from a high speed production unit is that workers tend to lose concentration and lower quality is achieved by the use of only one break during the day in an 8 hour shift. We have a sit down break built in after 2 hours, and the chance to take on a drink in the middle of the afternoon, the walk to the machine being a break from the actual task, and a change of lighting and noise levels. Quality has been proven to be exceeded once this extra comfort break was put into the morning routine. This goes especially for repetitive tasks all day.
