Posted By J Knight Hi Scott, No, they don't. what first aiders should do is treat everybody as a potential HIV Hep C and Hep B risk (the latter is the most easily transmitted blood borne disease) and adopt universal precautions. All blood should be treated as a hazardous substance, John

Posted By Diane Thomason I agree with John. Did the First Aid trainers not cover this?

Posted By Scott d Many thanks for your responses, I thought that would be the case. I am not a first aider myself and I did not want to discuss this possible situation with those who are, as they would have guessed what was coming. If this situation does arrive, I will get them together as we do periodically and tactfully discuss the proceedures they follow. Ta Scott

Posted By Locksley McPherson Hi Scott I believe your First Aiders need sitting down with and be reminded of the need for them to take universal precautions and treat everyone as potentially infectious, this way no special need to know if HIV or not. Regards Locksley
