Posted By Nigel Hammond I have received two of the new HM Government Fire Guides I ordered from HSE books: 'Fire Safety Risk Assessment - for small and medium places of assembly' & 'Fire Safety Risk Assessment - for Educational Premises'. I am still looking forward to receiving the one on residential care homes. If you have received them, what do you think? - are you pleased or disappointed. Do they change much compared to the old guidance or are they just the same old rules but presented in a modern style?

Posted By J Knight Nigel, I haven't read them yet (not had time) but you don't have to buy them; you can get them as a free download from www.communities.gov.uk (used to be www.odpm.gov.uk). I too am still waiting for Residential Homes and Healthcare Premises, John

Posted By Bob Pedley One the whole they are very good. For the pro the checklists work well, for the uninitiated they take you as deep as you want to go providing good advice and information. My advice is to get reading!!

Posted By Nigel Hammond Thanks for the web link John. This will be useful - I like electronic documents - as you can press Ctr-F to search for keywords rather than laboriously flipping back from the index. As you say Bob, I really need to read these documents fully!
