Double standards again. And what relevance to an actual H & S issue?
Well pointed out Saracen.

Pugwash asked: "How does one manage to be a moderator? Do you apply or do you get asked?
The Moderators' response was: " To be a moderator you have to be a corporate member of IOSH. You can express an interest, that will be considered. If invited you would then operate as an observer for a time. During this time you would be evaluated and your abilities considered before a final recommendation is made, one way or another.
Pugwash responded: "Thank you so much for your answer. I did not expect to receive one so quickly - and from the one of the upper men also! I will give this some thought.
The Moderators' final response was: "

I'm secretly jealous of you clever clogs that are fluent in languages.
Personally I'm a bi-lingual dyslexic, can't read and write in French or Spanish.
Kind regards
Jeff

I don't know whether or not AUG's are being broken but, this is a discussion forum open to all, therefore discussion should take place in a language that does not exclude the majority of participants.
Given all the other rules we have to follow if, a requirement to communicate in english is not already a requirement, I suggest that it should be made one.

Does that mean we should only discuss issues that eveyone can understand for fear of excluding them!

This forum is on the world wide web, and is open to anyone in the world, so why should someone not post a question in their native language and get replies in it as well (and give Bill a chance at a bit of swank!)?
Those who can't manage the lingo need not participate, or instead of moaning can do what I did - paste the text into http://www.freetranslation.com/
Its not perfect, but you can get the gist!

I think it is time I owned up! I can't speak/read Spanish but using an online translator I thought the Moderators should rise to the challenge.
The facts are that the AUGs are not being breached nor are there double standards.
You are right that this Forum is open to the world and it is not unreasonable to hope that english is the language of the majority/choice. But that should not prevent us trying to respond/help those where English is not the primary language.
Now - please do not inundate us with every conceivable laguage as a challenge.
As it has now moved from the original posting the Thread is locked.
