Posted By Ian Mitchell Good afternoon. We have installed a man-lift on one of our construction sites. It has recently been installed and we have enlisted external expertise for the post-installation and periodic thorough examinations at six-monthly intervals. The operators have received professional external validation on both the operation of the lift and the health and safety aspects of their specific area of responsibility (usual stuff about overloading/ wind conditions etc). One operative is very keen to carry out our weekly written checks for his personal development, and I am keen to support somebody who takes their role seriously. I have compiled a list of the sort of things he should be checking for with a view to creating a document that can be used. Casting aside the obvious items (controls/mounting points/doors etc etc) if anybody has any more oddball aspects that they have known go wrong please share them with me. We hope to make the first check on Friday.

Posted By JayJay Hi ian ! what about a rescue plan if this lift gets stuck between floors ? Besides the obvious visual checks, you can also carry out operational checks on the lift. does the doors on it close manually or electronically ? What about people getting their sticky little fingers or body parts caught in them ? Believe me it does happen JJ

Posted By Ian Mitchell Hi jayjay. Got the other suggestions down, but the rescue plan is food for thought indeed and worthy of my time on its own! Just the sort of stuff I am looking for....
