Posted By David Bramall I am not always in total agreement with the Moderators messages when discontinuing a thread, although I know they do have a difficult job to do scanning the responses and trying to decide what is acceptable - a bit like the referee in a football or rugby match. Hands up - I am in total agreement with the latest "pull" on lifting equipment. Keep up the good work Mr M and you have a new fan. Well Done. DrB

Posted By David Bramall Just another thought Mr M - whenever you lock a thread, instead of keeping it displayed on the forum with your message, perhaps the particular thread could be deleted in its entirety. DrB

Posted By Bill Fisher David Thank you for the comments, we do appreciate them. I debated over keeping or removing the Thread and initially erred on 'keep' but following your comments that was sufficient to tip to 'removal'. The Thread in question has now been removed due to the antagonistic response by the originator. Regards

Posted By GJB I'm only sorry I didn't get to be privvy to it David! But referees? Surely they have to make split-second decisions?!

Posted By David Bramall Bill Sorry for referring to you as Mr M (although it is a snappy name) however, I certainly hope I didn't influence anything regarding pulling the thread. I am very much in favour of "healthy" debate, criticism, even the occasional sarcy remark, however, as you say, when people are doing their best to offer asistance, as in this case, I agree with your decision. Keep up the good work. Regards DrB

Posted By David Bramall GJB Yes indeed referees do have to make split second decisions, and live with their decisions, although, they are only watching one game at a time. I think that is easier tan trying to watch this stuff - maybe 15 - 20 active threads at any one time. For the record, you didn't really miss very much on the thread, purely a misunderstanding beween respondants and the originator. DrB

Posted By Bill Fisher David I can assure you that your comment was not the decisive one. As I said I had considered leaving it and had locked it while I gave it a final think through. The decision to remove occurred at the same time as your posting. What I hope this does show is that the Moderators don't make snap decisions but do consider the options whilst applying the AUGs and ensuring professional dialogue. I am now going to lock this Thread off as I would like it to move down before business tomorrow. Once again our thanks for the support. Regards to all
