I believe there is something called the "Blue Book" which deals with football stadiums. Your local pro side may be able to help.

You may want to post a message on the non league football equivalent of this forum!? www.tonykempster.btinternet.co.uk - it is read by fans, players and those involved in the running of local sides like yours. In my experience non-league sides will probably help each other out. I am a big non-league soccer fan - what team is it?

It isn't Friday yet! Not even close... I take it you are a Wednesday man. Actually, Sheffield does have the oldest football club in the world doesn't it? Sheffield FC (1857).

I sit on my local Safety Advisory Group which licenses football stadiums. The book suggested is actually known as "The Green Guide".
As the other response, I would contact the safety officer at your local league club for assistance and would possible permit you a copy of theire contingency plans.

Blue book is for swimming pools from memory. As for football plans and things, I remember going to a seminar at Man Untd which was very good. Just call them and ask for their safety manager.

Hi John,
My answer was to 's6 owl' when he called Sheff Utd a non-league club! I have heard of Dover Ath, I saw them play Macclesfield (my local side) in the conference (or was it the trophy?) back in the 90s. As 'local clubs' go they are actually quite big! Good luck, Ian M.

John,
the 'Green guide'is called the "Guide to Safety at Sports Grounds" ISBN 0113000952 and costs £19.50 from the stationary office or any good book stockist.
Also there is alot of information on the Football Licensing Authority's website (www.flaweb.org.uk) with regards to planning and issues to consider.

Any chance of bringing standing areas back in football grounds? I have always
thought that standing areas are easier to evacuate during an emergency.
I understand its been introduced because of passed tragedies but with ticketing
improvements these days the risk of such events happening again has been reduced
Getting out of the ground at my teams ground at the end of the match always
proves difficult as the spacing between the rows is not the best.
any thoughts anyone?

As a season ticket holder at Luton Town I often laugh at the away fans in the Oak Road singing, "stand up, if you can't sit down". The space constraints in that end are awful. Willie Carson would have difficulty sitting comfortably in there !
Up the Hatters!
