Posted By Robert Jackson Dear all, I know this question came up a while ago but I can't find the thread unfortunately Could someone please refresh my memory on the workspace limits per person (office) I recall it's around 11 cubic metres maybe?? Plus, does ceiling height have an impact on the actual measurement? Thanks in anticipation Rmj

Posted By Phillipe Approved Document Building Regs B states that floor space in an office is 6m2/per person. Not sure if that is what you are after or not.

Posted By Salus just make sure that employees have enough space to move around and ensure good housekeeping / PA test equipment and watch out for the requirement for fire risk assessment

Posted By Jeffrey Watt So divide workplace reg volume(11m3) by Doc b area (6m2) you can lower the ceiling to 1.83333333333 metres???? Better issue hard hats to any basket ball players.

Posted By Is Kismet Like the maths, I can use that one! But how do the building regs fit in with the welfare regs (or at least welfare regs guidance). And does the 6m2 take into account office furniture?

Posted By Dave Wilson If you have a new build then the planning and BR Dept wil take the BRegs into account and all other existing legislation. do not confuse existing requirements with new build they are separate. You can use the Bulding Regs to see what should be inplace if you were starting afresh but you must comply with the contents of the Regs when your building was construcetd and any other reasonable changes to legislation since then.
