Can anyone tell me is there any guidelines or legislation for high-pressure hoses at work. For instance we are using 10bar pressure for hosing downing material or substances in certain production areas this pressure can be used through a hose reel either 2" or 3" thick. At the moment it’s a 1-man job should this pressure be reduced when one man is using the hose or should the job be a 2-man job? What is a reasonable pressure before 2 men should be introduced to such an activity and should different areas be accounted for when using such a pressure.eg confined spaces.

Hi Glynn
If you would be kind enough to supply some additional info; e.g. industry/use of hoses/contents in hose/etc I can let you have either BSI or HSG (if any HSG available)

THANKS FOR THE REPLY...
The information you desire is as follows.
1.Industry=Power Industry/electricity/power station
2.Use of hoses =The hoses are used to disperse gypsum or limestone that has gathered in various areas of the station, it could also be used for washing down dirty floors such as soil/muck
3.Contents in hose=The hose is simply connected to a standpipe with water running through it.

Check out the WJA - Water jetting association who do lots of info/courses and safety training for jetting. We used them for training on the use of our jet washers etc. They have produced a COP in conjunction with HSE. www.waterjetting.org.uk
