Posted By Alan E McKerns Has anyone had previous experience of performing a risk assessment on the above? I've ticked the obvious boxes but am thinking of effects from fumes during turning operations or heating of material relating to this type of manufacturing. I'm new to the industry and am following Occ Health data, however experience from other related manufacturers would be grateful. Much ta Alan

Posted By Ian H Alan It really depends on the type of material that you are working with. Turning of metal may not cause further risk per se, but I would advise you look at the materials. Also I would recommend that you consider the ergonomic/human factor aspects of comfort, adequate breaks, positioning and welfare arrangements for the lady. The MSDS's for any chemicals or other hazardous substances will provide date regarding the risks, but you need to ensure that a circumstantial COSHH assessment is completed. Sorry I can't provide much more detail. Please email me direct with more detail and I'll try and help as much as I can. Kind regards Ian
