Posted By Sheila EJ Keogh Caro, Too crazy! They obviously have nothing else to do! It really annoys me when you hear media articles about the noisy countryside and "can't they shut those chickens/cockerels/cows etc up". Perhaps they should stand in the middle of Bishopsgate (City of London) and measure the decibel levels there.

Posted By Merv Newman This sounds totally conkers bonkers. I think the auctioneer is correct in not reacting to the complaint. I would expect that this is an event which has gone on for a number of decades without complaint. Is it a "newbie" complaining ? We did have american friends who moved into our village and complained about the sound of the bells worn by cows coming in for milking from the adjoining field at 6am (they took the house because it had an uninterrupted view (a cow field) in front. The mayor just smiled and explained that the records showed that the field had been cleared of trees in 1736 so as to provide grazing for the cows. Was there a similar situation in america ? Complaint dropped. Merv
