We have concern around the use of a metal bandsaw to cut duck in one of our food plants.

The site has considered use of high pressure water jets and a few other alternatives but has failed to identify a method of cutting the cooked ducks that is accurate enough.

Can anyone offer information on an alternative cutting solution/technology that could be applied? Greatful for any assistance.

Hi Graham, if a bandsaw turns out to be the option you rest with... please, please, please, ensure the operatives are trained, competent, have the instructions, the task is RA... etc, but above all make sure they use those guards - all of them. Remember band saws can be set up for right/left handed people, it's crucial it's set up the right way round.

Plenty of folk have lost fingers and parts of their hands... the band saw is an unforgiving piece of machinery... but extremely effective at slicing through skin/bone/tissue.

Regards
