Got dizzy & fell over.

Posted By Jeffrey Watt Haven't used it but ...
Can you get any points from reading this forum?
I get more pertinent training here than in most "day trips" I've had in the past year.

Posted By Stephen D. Clarke I've tried it and found it difficult to use. I would have preferred something identical to the paper system which would as a consequence be quick and easy to input. At the moment I'm keeping a paper record and will input in a couple of years when hopefully it's more straightforward.

Posted By Merv Newman Andy, haven't looked at it yet. Maybe tomorrow if it keeps raining.
Jeff, I'm with you. I learn a lot from this site. I currently have a request from an Irish lady who wants a comparison between Irish CDM and the equivalent French legislation. Right now I only vaguely know the French side. I don't do construction safety as the obligatory qualification requires years of experience in the trade. Which I ain't got.
I'm going to have to learn a bit. Is that worth a CPD point or two ?
And 10 postings, 100 replies or 1000 log-ins should each be worth a point or two.
Hazel !!! we need you again

On the driving forums I partake in you get a wee post counter so that those who participate get recognition. I wouldn't care if it was visible but it would be useful if it popped up in "my details" and you got a point or two for active discussion/debate on safety.
For years I couldn't get relaeased to branch meetings as my boss thought those who attended were a ....you get the drift. This is my way of participating/arguing/debating/complaining.
Come on chaps and chapettes lets get with the 20th Century guys!! [This is an irony subtitle for those who thought that 20th was a typing mistake].
Happy trails

Posted By Jeffrey Watt Merv Unfortuneately I have no experience with ROI CDM. Have occupied a new building and changed it's use in Dublin. This experience showed that ROI was aligned with UK building control documents. Can't be much more help than that. You may want to try IBEC which is the ROI equivalent of the CBI or the HSA here http://www.hsa.ie/publis...pe.jsp?dir_item_typeID=3Jeff

Posted By Hazel Harvey The on-line IOSH scheme being more flexible than the more prescriptive paper-based one does allow a far broader scope in the type of activities that you can input. Unlike the old scheme it is the reflection on the activity that is the CPD not the attendance or proof of activity. This would mean that any thread on this forum that set you to thinking round a problem could be used as the CPD activity. There are often useful tips from members to each other about where to find information about certain subjects so one posting here could lead to quite a bit of research and then development into new skills. In a similar mode reading about new developments can be used as it is what is learnt that is important.
The scheme can be used in a similar way to the old paper based as if you attend an event you can simply put down 'Attended event' and allocate credits and I imagine that in the fullness of time most members will have a mixture of simple entries and longer reflective statements about some of the less time-bound activities.
We have kept the scheme as a basic template at the moment as members get used to it. We will, however, be able to develop it more in the future. All comments relating to the scheme are being kept so that we can reflect on them and develop as posssible (CPD for the scheme itself!).
