Posted By Sarah O'Brien Now I'm sure I'm just being dense but hopefully someone will be able to help. We have recently updated our fire risk assessments and identified that additional exit signage is required. I have ordered signs which show a white figure going through the green door (British Standard not EU) but now I have just read the BS 5499-4 which states that "The green figure is preferred for face and externally illuminated signs". "The white figure is prefered for self-luminous and internally illuminated signs". Which colour figure do you need for inside an office block only illuminated by the ordinary lighting. As I say probably being really dense and its quite an easy question. All help appreciated.

Posted By Paul Bellis The Safety Signs and Signals regulations say Emergency escape or first-aid signs Intrinsic features: (a) rectangular or square shape (b) white pictogram on a green background (the green part to take up at least 50% of the area of the sign) In general, these Regulations will not require any changes where existing fire safety signs containing symbols comply with BS 5499. New signs are also acceptable if they are similarly chosen to comply with BS 5499 Paul
