Are there any risk etc. associated with using a spray..should we use a non spray method..wiping down with a cloth containing milton? Checked milton on web site and doesn't indicate. I have also emailed a supplier direct with this question..but no reply from them Any advice would be welcome thanks in advance.

Rank: Guest		Posted By garyh The manufacturer (and therefore the supplier) must be able to produce a Safety Data Sheet (sometimes known as a "MSDS"). From this you can assess the risks via COSHH.

As a dilute solution ie 1:20 with water it will effectively clean where there is minimal soil but contact with proteins will break it down to salt + water. It will depend on what it is you are trying to acheive, you may be better off using a good quality general Purpose detergent for cleaning. More concentrated milton solutions will not be suitable for urine spillages for example and depending on the surface material of the lifting cushion may not be appropriate for that either.

Rank: Guest		Posted By Ken Taylor Is Milton supplied in a spray container? I would be unhappy about breathing even very dilute sprayed Sodium hypochlorite - particularly in a confined space. If this is the right chemical for the job, I would want to use it in the 'tried and tested' wipe method.

At that dilution the protein level of any contaminant quickly overwhelms the free chlorine (biocide) There are wipes available that are far better (stronger if you like) biocides and far safer

Rank: Guest		Posted By jackw. Hi, thanks for the replies. Had a chat with manager and a little more thought into it..abandoned the idea of cleaning in transit.. staff will go to one of our 24 hour facilities if the equipment gets soiled and clean it there under better controlled conditions. Cheers
