Hello forum readers,

Can anyone recommend a good lone worker call back / tracker system?

Seem to remember a system whereby user notified call centre of their location and intended finishing time, and call centre called back if the individual had not phoned in to say they had left site / arrived home safely.

Thanks in advance for any responses.

I’m off to the pub. Wonder if I’ll get home from there safely?

Hi Dazmo,

BT Red Care will do all sorts of weird and wonderful things at your request, as will most security companies.

One thing to be aware of with such schemes is that if they fail to get contact with the employee then there will be a set procedure for them to follow which may include calling the emergency services.

From what I have been told, the emergency services are unlikely to react with and urgency as the call they will get from such a provider will not specify that there has been any sort of accident, simply that someone is not answering their phone!

It is normally beneficial to have a company contact who lives close by, who may attend the site, which opens another can of worms (payments etc).

Hope this helps!

Hi Dazmo

I've recently read at Industrialsafetytalk.com of a Dublin based company called Phideas which have a full automatic lone worker protection system with tracking and man down alarm. Checked their website and as far as I understand you define a set of areas and whenever the user enters or leaves one area you can be notified online, by email or SMS. You also get to be notified when the user doesn't get "within time" into an area or when the user is not moving for a preset period of time. The system seems pretty flexible and really nice. Have a look at their interactive demo under menu "How it works". The product is QuoVadis™ Security the website is http://www.phideas.com/ .

Hope it helps,

Tom

There is some info in September 2006 SHP Magazine. Otherwise think this topic has been posted in last few weeks so you could do a search.
