Posted By Charlie Mc Daniel, Speaking from current experience we have a large Polish, and French contingent on my current project, and I found the best way of getting them involved in Health, and Safety was for them to nominate 'safety reps' preferably with good English language skills, these individuals then sat in on Safety Committee Meetings (non Trade Union may I add), attended Safety briefings, assisted with the tool box talks, and helped with translations etc. etc. I also had my Safety Team wear Hi Viz vests with Safety Team printed on the front, and back in Polish, and French, so that when we approached these chaps they new exactly who we were, and what we were about. I also produced multi-language 'vocab cards' highlighting key safety, engineering, and communication words in English, with their Polish, and French equivalent. If you have time and add this to your multi-language leaflets, and brochures, and I think you would get great benefit. Powodzenia! (good luck). ps. a good Polish phrasebook with two-way dictionary is also a good investment.
