Hi AG,

If your are interested in a career in H&S them the answer has to be an uneqivocal yes. If I get to the point of being able to advertise for posts I will be asking for GradIOSH/TechIOSH as a minimum. I would consider somebody who had the qualifications and experience but hadn't joined IOSH, but would still want them to sign up on appointment.

Is this just loyalty? No, its to do with CPD as much as anything else.

IOSH also publishes SHP; not perfect I know, and you can subscribe as a non-member. But it is pretty good, and anybody reading it is able to keep abreast of what's what.

Plus you can wear a tie in a particular colour so people know whether to salute or snub you at meetings ;-); mind you, I don't know your gender, so perhaps the tie bit isn't so important,

Thanks john for getting back to me, See i qualified from college 2 years ago with a BSc Ordinary Degree in Health & Safety, I am unsure if it is recognised by IOSH.If it is or is not where would i stand? Probably the best bet would be to contact the college and ask.

Hi AG,

Your best bet is to ring the membership section at the Grange, they will be very helpful. As far as I know, in general a BSc allows entry at GradIOSH and there is then a development path to CMIOSH; there is list here of courses which allow Graduate entry http://www.iosh.org/index.cfm?go=membership.grades

check with the membership department of IOSH (look in 'about membership' on this site) for your specific course and what membership level it can get you.
