Response received from interviewer for the answers given by a candidate were....Cool, good,I see, thats great,fantastic...etc...

Final Question :
Interviewer:- Why do you want to work for this particular organisation ?

Candidate :- Because the family lives in this state and spouse cannot manage and bring up the kids on her own without the Dad's supervision and help,as kids are on their own from early morning after Mom leaves for work, therefore the need to be with the family.

Interviewer to the candidate :-I was expecting to hear the following answer from you.... " I wanted to work for this organisation because of its excellent reputation, It's a pleasure to work for a prestigious organisation,etc...Therefore interview failed.

Interview Result :
Failed ....simply because of NOT stating that its a pleasure to be associated with this organisation of repute and high standing.

Friends any tips, suggestions or opinions or comments please...

Uday, it's nice to be honest...it's nice to have a job too. Next time try telling the interviewer what he wants to hear. Honesty comes after you get the job!

Good luck

Remember that when you are at an interview, you are actually in a selling process. You are trying to persuade the prospective employer to hire you rather than the competition.

You need to be honest (otherwise later on you may be found out and again be unemployed) but you also need to try to understand what the interviewer is looking for and tailor your response, attitude etc. accordingly.

"Selling" (and we all sell, even though we may not think of it as such) is a skill that can be taught. There are various (and ethical)techniques that you can apply to gain maximum effect. One thing that many sales people are very poor at is asking questions. The answers will tell you what the interviewer is looking for and allow you to expand upon why he should hire (buy?) you as opposed to the others.

There are many books on selling. Get yourself one of the basic ones and have a read. (If you want a recommendation contact me direct.) Then think how you might apply what you have read to making you the most saleable property. You'll be surprised how this will help, not only at that interview, but later, when you are trying to persuade your boss that he needs to spend some money on some equipment or project.

hi, if someone gave me that answer at interview I wouldn't hire them either. Remember what an interview is about: selling yourself, your skills, knowledge, experience qualifications etc as the best available to them. Think about the guy selling a small family saloon.. he will tell you how great it is and highlight all the good points.. he wont tell you oh this well its ok but it's not as good as the one the guy down the road is selling..or it can't do x or y..it aint a rolls royce etc. etc. You get the picture..I hope. next time you go for a job.. you think I am the rolls Royce at this interview. it works trust me.

cheers.
