Did anyone else catch the channel 4 documentary about Rick Rescorla called 'The Man Who Predicted 9/11'?

What an amazing story. This chap (who was Morgan Stanley's head of security)through implementation of policy, evacuation drills etc. saved the lives of almost all of the 3000 Morgan Stanley employees working in tower 2.

It occured to me that the next time I hear someone moaning about evacuations (especially senior management)I would like to sit them down and watch this programme to ram home why they are so very important. Not only that, but he also lost his own life doing it.

At a time when many of us think we are banging our heads against a wall, this story was very uplifting (if tragic)and reminded me of why what we do is so important.

Regards, Paul

I was extremely moved by the programme. What an amazing man, what a brilliant peice of television. He lost his life while saving others, only about 6 people died from his company including himself. It was inspirational to say the least and he inspired me on so many levels.

Hi all,
i'm sure this is exactly the same documentary I saw many months ago on cable, and if so I imagine it will be repeated.

Keep scanning the tv guides!!

It is also worth a mention that Rick Rescorla was also a prominent figure during the Vietnam War in the first main battle between US Forces and the North Vietnamese Army in the Ia Drang Valley. The account of this is detailed in the book ‘We were soldiers once….And young’ by Lt. Gen. Hal More & Joe Galloway. http://www.lzxray.com/

Incidentally, the film depicting this battle staring Mel Gibson does not feature Rick Rescorla at all. It has been speculated that Mel Gibson had him written out due to his dislike of the English (Rescorla was born and raised in Cornwall) and did not want to portray an Englishman as a hero.

It is a testament to this man, the part he played in this battle as well as the events described earlier.

I hope you are not suggesting Mel Gibson has prejudices!
