Posted By Robert S Woods Does anyone know of any guidance on, or have information or experience of supplying, types of chairs that are particularly suitable for sewing machinists?
All help gratefully received.

Posted By Darren J Fraser May not be at all useful, but I would look at the requirements of a DSE user's chair and work from there as a start point. Would also look to see if there are any trade associations and if they could give some guidance. Ask the machinists for their input.
Not much, but hope it gets you started.

The best available published guidance on seating for sewing machinists is probably chapters 4 and 5 of 'Bodyspace. Anthropometry, Ergonomics and the Design of Work', 3rd edition, S Pheasant and C M Haslegrave, Taylor & Francis, 2006. Chapter 10 also provides bodyspace tables with anthropometric data for the adult population in the UK and elsewhere.
The main author, Steve Pheasant, was widely respected for his skill in expressing complex scientific ideas in plain language and with self-effacing humour.
