Posted By Catman Hi All Does anybody know the maximum length of trailer that can be towed by a Mitsubishi L200 pickup type vehicle? Also, if a business has two trailers, is there legislation covering the retro fitting of a towbar to the rear of one of the trailers to tow two trailers at once? You can purchase a trailer fitted with a towbar at the rear, but just does not sound right to me (unless its a specifically designed articulated lorry). Any help much appreciated. Cheers TW

Posted By Stupendous Man So far as I am aware, there are no length restrictions - weight is the only issue. From memory, a new L200 double cab will tow around 2.7 tonnes. Having worked in an industry with multi-trailered vehicles, I certainly would not recommend that a vehicle tows more than one trailer at a time - it would require a great deal of concentration and skill to move on the road. My previous working environment was on an airport - off road, highly controlled and with a traffic flow that eliminated sharp turns and provided a 1-way system for the 'tug & 4 dollys'. Strangely, I found that reversing large trailers was easier than smaller variants as a greater size gives better reference points around obstacles.

Posted By Chas Go to the DVLA website and type 'towing trailers' in to the search box. You should get access to the leaflet they produce. All weights and sizes are given for a variety of vehicles. Also refer to your manufacturers handbook - the car VIN plate should give you an indication of the gross weight your car can legally be/tow. Hope this helps.
