Posted By John_Webster Is it a problem to supply disposal bags and a lined pedal bin to dispose of them in? Otherwise you are going to have much bigger problems with blocked sewers. If the pedal bin liner is the type with ties, your cleaner (who will be wearing gloves anyway) only has to lift the ties, tie off the bag and drop it into a domestic refuse sack. This type of SANPRO waste can be safely disposed of in this way.

Posted By Pat Hannaway I agree with previous posting. Under the Workplace Health Safety and Welfare Regulations an employer shall provide "Suitable and sufficient sanitary conveniences at readily accessible places". The Approved Code of Practice clarifies your query in this way "In the case of water closets used by women, suitable means should be provided for the disposal of sanitaery dressings". The employer does not have to provide a proprietary disposal unit, but as suggested in the previous posting, a flip top bin with a plastic liner would be considered suitable, provided that it is regularly emptied.
