Just been told by the CSCS people we cannoy have a basic card although all our people have passed the test and hold valid asbestos training, because we need to do an NVQ in Hazardous Waste! But cannot tell me who the provider is or how long etc.
Any one elighten me as the CSCS and construction skills certainly do not know!

How about City and Guilds Scheme 6063,Level 2 NVQ in the Removal of Hazardous Waste (Asbestos).
And remember this CSCS is a requisite for working on a Major Contractors Group site, but not for others. But holding an NVQ means you have demonstrated already that you have satisfied occupational competence to work safety within a vocational area of work...So why do the test? oh yes, to pay for a card.

Is this as well as doing statutory training as required by CAWR 02 Reg 9 and Chapt 4 of the Licensed Contractors Guide which is required for all asbestos removal staff and is part of your licence issued by the HSE not just MCG!
I agree NVQ is on the job competency but statutory competency must come first.
So we pay, do the test. pass, pay and apply and are told your 'statutory HSE required training' is not sufficient'?
HOW MANY TRADES IN THE CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY HAVE TO DO 'EXAMINED' SAFETY TRAINING ON AN ANNUAL BASIS JUST SO THEY CAN GO TO WORK IN THE MORNING?
Thanks for the info mate at least someone has given me the info as this is not available as far as CSCS is concerned, are there are assessors or assessment centres out there who do this?
