Does anyone have any information/views on the use of red/blue/green high visibility clothing in a warehouse with moving MHE equipment? I was of the understanding that it is only the day glo yellow and orange that is acceptable with moving vehicles regardless of reflective strips as this applies more for the level of lighting available. Any views appreciated.

My Arco catalogue refers to EN471 specification for hi vis clothing. It mentions 3 classes: class 33 highest level of conspicuity with min background material 0.8m2 min retro reflective material 0.2m2, class 2 intermediate 0.5m2 0.13m2 respectively and class 1 lowest 0.14m2/ 0.10m2. Not sure exactly how you determine which class for which duty but suspect this would be through risk assessment.

CC,
Only the yellow and orange meet the British standard, BSEN 471. The last time I checked!!
In a previous life and in a distribution centre environment, we introduced various colours. The was to identify staff different roles from a distance. First Aiders, Fire Marshall's, supervision etc. The was met with approval form the Local Enforcement Officer. This was system was developed through the risk assessment process.
In my new life. One our Distribution Centre Managers has implemented something very similar and was advised by the local EHO to take it out and stick to the yellow and orange.
Do the risk assessment consider all factors.
Note* you can get variations of the yellow and orange e.g. different panel configuration, these may help you.
