I am developing a risk assessment training programme for designers in construction. I am aware of the "Five Steps to Risk Assessment" and would like to make the training stimulating and enjoyable. If anyone has a training programme which they have found to be successful in terms of delegate participation positive feedback and understanding of the topic could they please let me know.
In addition, what do members think is the best way of recording designers risk assessments? Would it be to record on an actual drawing or as separate documentation.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

When designing a training programme, think about learning styles, the type of people that will attend, what benefit is in it for them? Does the programme flow and has it structure? Does it meet their needs? time available?
Just a bit of a start!

To make the training work try and start where the designer is not where everybody thinks he is. Forget risk assessment and concentrate on how the drawing board can eliminate the risks. Don't forget also that the HSE have said that Design Risk Assessment is not actually a requirement of the regulations. It is about minimising risks and eliminating hazards. Thus it has to be an integral part of the design process.
I have concerns when we talk of training designers to do risk assessments. We actually need to train them in thinking how to manage the risks. This is the approach I take in my training sessions
