Posted By JWG I've notice that the new NEBOSH Diploma is a level 6. What is the level of Dip2? Has it changed to a level 6 to follow suit? My job and pay is being reviewed (NHS - Agenda for Change sake). As part of the process a score will be given to the the qualifications required for the job. To me, doing the dip1+2, which comprises of 10 assignments and four exams, out-weigh the new diploma. But I'm fearing the dip 2 requirement for the job will be a lower ENTO level than the new diploma. Can anyone shed any light on this? Much appreciated

Posted By Teresa Budworth Reply from NEBOSH: The Part Two Diploma was developed to map to the underpinning knowledge required by what was then the equivalent of the ENTO level 4 standard. The new National Diploma was designed to map to the ENTO National Occupational Standard at level 4. Since the ENTO standard was published, the Qualification and Curriculum Authority (QCA) - which is the government agency overseeing all accredited qualifications and the bodies awarding qualifications - has revised the National Qualification Framework, against which all accredited qualifications are levelled, so that what was level 4, has been divided into levels 4, 5 and 6. In other words, new level 6 is the equivalent of the top end of old level 4 on the National Qualifications Framework. Level 6 is recognised as equivalent to an honours degree. We cannot get the Part 2 Diploma accredited by QCA now, and officially given a level, because it is not based on the current ENTO standards. If we were able to have it accredited by QCA on the new framework, I would anticipate that it would come out at level 6. Moreover, it is recognised by IOSH as meeting the knowledge requirements for chartered membership, and in that respect is of equal status to the new National Diploma. If we can be of any assistance in reassuring your employer of the status of your NEBOSH qualification, we would be very happy to help.

Posted By JWG Many thanks Teresa. I may well take you up on your offer. I feel I will have a fight on my hands. Since the original posting I was told that for the evaluation they maybe giving all diplomas the same score. This is not good; when I was in a shoe shop the other day I saw a diploma on display day for shoe fitting.
